I heard the same tonight at the EAA Chapter meeting... I was looking for pictures. What color was it? I know I have seen a few L-4s around and could pick it up by the color.
It was olive drab/US Army scheme with yellow lettering on the tail. The news chopper makes a low pass and I can almost make out the number on the tail... but not quite.
The reporter refers to it as a Cessna (but to a reporter all single prop high wing monoplanes are Cessnas). On closer inspection though it probably is an O-1 Bird Dog.
