A pictoral history of a Ki-61 Tony.

That is the Chiran example. Page is in Japanese, but worthy of interest.

Didn't Cliff Cummins the race pilot have a Tony being restored in CA some time ago? Where is it now?

I saw that Tony in a Chino hanger many years ago. It is I believe now owned by Kermit Weeks and in storage in Florida.

I thought it was Frank Taylor of Dago Red fame? or maybe I'm daft.

I've got to say that my favourite Japanese fighter was the Ki-61 Tony.

It's got great lines.

Cheers,

This plane is my Favorite!

The Tony (I think) had the best lines and look of any Japanese plane. Lots of flair. Absolutly one of my favorites. Here is a 1/48 scale model I did of this aircraft and I learned a lot from doing it.
