I have finished the Minnesota section of the Locator. I have a number of questions that I would like to get answers for, so I now turn it over to WIX...

#1: I try to make the map links as accurate as possible. In other words I would like to see all map link accuracy indicators in the green.
#2: Improve the data for all locations.

Exact locations are preferred (but not necessary). If you know the exact location but don’t know how to get the coordinates you can get those from two sources. Source #1 is Google Earth…

#1: Alexandria - Apparently there is a T-33 displayed at a Doolittles American Grill restaurant in Alexandria. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

I do not think Doolittle’s has a T-33. There is a T-33 on display at the Alexandria Airport.

#2: Belle Plaine - Apparently there is a UH-1 displayed in Belle Plaine. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

It is there. It is in a park near the intersection of Highways 169 and 25 on the West side of 169.

#4: Black River Falls - Apparently there is an AH-1 displayed in a Veterans park in Black River Falls. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

Black River Falls is in Wisconsin.

#8: Eden Prairie, Flying Cloud Municipal Airport - Which hangar does the Wings of the North museum occupy?

Wings of the North occupies a hanger along the Eastern edge of the airport, but does not have a facility that is open to public.

#9: Elkton - Apparently there is a F9F fuselage on the north side of I-90 between mile markers 188 and 189. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

There a couple of F9Fs on a private farm.

#12: Little Falls, Camp Ripley, Ray S. Miller AAF - A better map reference is needed. Where exactly is the Minnesota Military Museum?

This Museum is right inside the entrance to Camp Ripley.

#13: Mankato, Mankato Municipal Airport - There may be a T-33 displayed at the airport. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

News to me, I’ll check on this one.

14: Minneapolis / Saint Paul, Minneapolis - There may be a Jim Johns aviation museum at the location pointed to by the map. Can you confirm? If so can you confirm there is a L-13, TBM, T-6 and BT-13 in the collection?

This collection has been sold off.

#16: Minneapolis / Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Hopkins - There may be an AH-1 displayed in a memorial park along highway 7. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

I drive this route everyday and would be very surprised if I missed Cobra along the roadside. Could this be the Shakopee AH-1?

I've never seen any in or around town.I can do some checking to see if it is indoors.

#26: Thief River Falls, Thief River Falls Regional Airport – In addition to the A-4 on display, the Northland Community & Technical College has a F-84 outside. Where exactly is it?

Sitting by the fence right by the county road going by the airport,I think it may be an RF84-F?

Yep. I already have the airport example under Legion Post 87. I have another source (I don’t remember which off hand, I will need to check) indicating the possibility of a T-33 at the restaurant. Can anyone confirm there is nothing at the restaurant? For example did you drive by or eat there recently? I don’t want to drop it from the Locator without confirmation.

I have moved the map reference to a point in Pioneer Trail Road and added a comment about it not being accessible to the public.

I have moved the map reference to the end of 640th Ave on the north side of I-90. The GE images may be old, but they are certainly less than ideal resolution, so I can’t make out anything in that area.

Is that on the south-east side? Which side of the river? Base side or route 371 side? Is it generally accessible to the public?

Could be... but I did quote the source in the private comments, “reported in a memorial park along Hwy 7 in the Hopkins district in May 05.” I may be quoting out of Andy’s book, I need to check that. It does seem to be relatively current information.

You are most welcome. I, and hopefully others, appreciate those that step up and contribute information when asked. There is no information more solid than from a local talking about locations in his/her own home town, etc.

The only T-33 I know of up there is displayed adjacent to the Bellanca factory at AXN. Doolittles is a good restaurant, though!

I might be up there soon on business; I’ll snap a picture of the T-33 if anyone’s interested.

I don’t believe C&P is looking for visitors from the general public.

Are they actually one and the same? If not are the coordinates for Squadron 101?

#29: Winona, Winona Municipal Airport / Max Conrad Airfield – A number of airframes (F9F, H-23, 2x H-52, T-33) are kept outside at the Minnesota State College Southest Technical Airport Campus. A better map reference is needed. Where exactly are these airframes?

I have been to Winona twice, first time in 2000 and the second, in August 2003. Both times, the aircraft visible, were inside the technical school hangar, and not outside.

The only warbird outside IIRC, was the F9-FP (sp?) that now has been moved to another location, as listed recently here at WIX.
