If anyone is in the Santa Barbara area coming up this weekend (Jan 11 - 14) take a look out in the water .... This is a photo of a few years ago when the USS Ronald Reagan stopped by Santa Barbara. Quite an awesome sight to see her anchored off shore. I flew over her years ago, at a safe altitude of course, and she was amazing to see sitting out there alone like that. No tours, but if you walk out on the pier it's just breathtaking. I'll take some great shots this time from my house. I see right out on the ocean where she will be. You So Cal guys, jump in a plane and fly up to see her. I read in the local paper there will be a large formation fly-over as well. I'll be sure to take photos of that as well.

The last photo is of the Reagan doing some crazy rudder testing ... wow! look at that angle in the water as she turns sharp ... amazing as well

A W E S O M E ! ! ! Peace through Superior Fire Power....I only wish the rest of America saw what we see in the Might of our Armed Forces. The imagination in Aviation, the bravery on land, sea, and in the Air. We must never surrender......to anyone.

It's not "crazy rudder testing"
It's called sea trials
I've seen enough of the Nimitz class to last me for a very long
time.
When we came out of SLEP on the Nimitz during the "crazy rudder testing" we gathered all the office chairs we could steal and played bumper cars in our shop :!:
Jack who's got the t-shirt :?

No disrespect ... just what it said where I picked up the photo ... Sea trails sounds much better ... But I can tell you that there will be some "crazy shore leave" ... when 4,000 sailors hit Santa Barbara.

That looks cool, but it's just wacky skimmer/target stuff. Nothing a MK48 can't handle.
