Shay, thanks so much for those two windows in time, back to the days when forest fire were fought with real airplanes. Not like today where the Feds insist you fight the lumberyard fire with squirtguns (wild fires being fought with 300 gallon water buckets).
I'm absolutely not short selling the very brave individuals who do fight fires from helicopters, it isn't a job I'd want, but it seems so anti positive results, I just wish the USFS would look at what was accomplished over the just finished fire season in SoCal and see how well Tanker 10 performed along with the wonderful MARS boat! But, I guess when you think 1857, you act 1857-

The shots at about 5:00 in on part 1 of the TBM backlit through the smoke are amazing.
