Japanese Aircraft Instruments and Throttle Quadrant

Hello Everyone, Recently I purchased a 1934 Auburn Automobile from a gentleman in Texas who had installed 4 Japanese Aircraft Instruments below the Auburn Car Instruments. He was stationed in Japan during the cleanup period and removed them from a Japanese fighter and sent them back to his wife the USA. Restoration has begun on the Auburn and of course the Japanese Instruments had to come out to make the Auburn original. Now the 4 instruments and an original throttle quadrant are sitting on my workbench looking for a new home since I don't have a Zero, Val, or a Kate to restore. Does anyone out there know what the fair market value is for these 5 items? A gentleman at the 2007 P-51 GM&L said he thought they were made by a US manufacturer for Japan before war broke out and they have English numerals on the instrument faces surrounded by Japanese lettering. He said that they were the real deal and a prize find for a warbird collector. It is my desire to let them go to the right home at a fair market value and I think it would be great to see them back in the air in a restored Japanese Fighter. Can anyone out there help me in my quest for a new home for these historic Japanese aircraft instruments? Thanks, Craig Birkhold

I can recommend a qualified museum where you can get a tax deduction for donating them.

I live in Camarillo,Ca. Im with the American Aeronautical Foundation and we help restore Warbirds. We have a neighbor here who use them in his Zero. He'd be pretty interested in them and might trade you something good to might need. If not, how much to buy?

It depends upon the instruments, and the condition, but I recently sold an a nice airspeed indicator applicable to a Betty for $500. They usually go on e-bay for $350 to $750 if they are in decent condition. The throttle quadrant will go for much more if it's from a fighter or bomber and in decent condition. Put up some pictures, I'd love to see them.

PS. There is a really useful website that has translations for the Japanese characters, and gives a list of the aircraft types they were used in. I don't recall it off the top of my head, but a google search should turn it up with a little effort.
