This is a picture of my Grandfather standing in front of the very first B-29 to land on Okinawa in 1945. He was a Carpenters Mate in the 78th USNCB(Seabees) during the war. He couldn't recall its name but, after a little magnification I found its name to be " LOOK HOMEWARD ANGEL". Neat pic, just wanted to share it. He's the one standing on the right closest to the nose gear.

lowpass,

Interesting story and photo!

Look Homeward Angel was assigned to the 39th Squadron of the 6th Bombardment Group (VH) and part of the 313th Bombardment Wing. She survived combat operations and was used later for fire fighting practice on Kwajalein.
