I'm working on the CD for the funeral and found some new aircraft pics in the stash that I hadn't seen before.

The one with the recruiting poster is appropriate, because after the war, he was assigned to the Recruiting service in Fl.

That is a wild setup on the '38! I almost thought it was an He-111 when I first saw it!

Great pictures! Theres a lot more glass on that XF-5D than other pictures I've seen of it. Any more of it?

I have on my shelf a bunch of P-38 books and I thought I had looked through the ones I don't own pretty well, but I don't recall ever seeing a glass nose P-38 just like that! And in color! Can you magnify the lettering in the serial block and get us at least a partial on the serial or model number?

Okay, time for everybody to go thru the older relative's shoeboxes and albums and post some more treasures from the past!

they were in Florida doing some tests on the P47 and the P38. Here is the letter of commendation that they got afterwards:

i've seen glazed nosed p-38s / f-5's but i've never seen a configuration like that!! there has got to be more to tell!! :?: :?: :?:

I thought the Foto-lightnings were unarmed, and wouldn't this be a F-4?

This one doesn't seem to be unarmed. :wink:
