Red Bull P-38
Any other P-38 not flying yet
Any A-20 Havoc
Any new F6F
Any Mosquito
Any new B-26
MAAM P-61
CAF B-29
Any new P-40B or C
Ki-61 Tony
any FW 190
Bristol Beaufighter

I know all the above are being restored in various places in various ways, but does anyone have a ball park figure when we can possibly see one of the above actually flying? ... I should state, flying for public view.

My favorites from the above list:

1) ANY Martin B-26

2) P-61

3) CAF B-29

4) FW 190

I will add these to the list:

1) Dornier 335 (wishful thinking)

2) P-82

3) Any new Thunderbolt

4) Me 163 (just kidding)

The ex Lone Star A-20 was supposed to be the only airworthy example in the world. It was sold Australian in ...I think in early '07. The common story is that it was to be re-engined then flown to its destination. Any thing else is hangar talk.
IMHO maybe flying in '08. But we know what old airplanes think about schedules...

Actually there is a 163 flying as a towed glider. Supposedly another (replica?) may fly under power using a motor similar to what powered Space Ship one, albeit smaller.

I don't know all of the details, but the Red Bull P-38 should be flying soon. They're just finishing up some last minute details.

And the B-29's new goal is to be flying by Airsho '09. If all of the planets line up just right, that might just happen.

That will be a great day for sure. With any luck the P-51C should be there to provide escort....

Bob Jens' Mosquito restoration in Vancouver, BC is still trucking along. I still need to drop by for a visit to really know how it's doing, but from my understanding its engines still need a decent amount of work on them. Overhaul maybe.

Gonna be cool having TWO warbirds locked in the cage instead of just one.

If you are referring to the XCOR powered Me-163 replica, it will not happen. The program was cancelled.

I was lucky enough to see FiFi AND ol' 927 fly when they visited Martinsburg, WV a couple of years ago. Got some nice pictures around here somewhere.

I got to see FiFi fly, and then got a chance to clean and refuel her at an air show in Alexandria, LA, back in the late 70's when I was working with the Cajun wing on a P-38 project (later called Scatterbrain Kid II). Being an A-7D Crew Chief, I got to pump the gas, and undstood when done, why the regular crew didn't want too.. Did get a nice tour inside and a chance to slide the tunnel.

Those were the days.....

Kurt :)
