There's some bad memories, August '92, somewhere I have a bunch of similar photos. My apartment was over the storage bays on the south side of the airport, and it looked almost as bad. As I remember, we thought thank goodness for Grummans, as the Tigercat and Avenger (and Duck?) kept the hangar from collapsing further. There were also two C-46s on the airport, one ended up upside down right where it had been parked, and the other tumbled over a mile to the west side of the field. And of course Kermit's B-17 and wingless B-23 broke their tie-downs, but stayed upright as they made their way south across the airport, through the fence, over the road and RR tracks, and finally stopped in the trees beyond.

Top photo, remains of the ex-Paul Mantz Boeing 100 on the left (now being rebuilt in Nevada), and Sopwith Triplane on the right (it's now with Javier Arango in CA). Bottom photo Monty Chumley's Pitts, and the others you can recognize. Monty started flying in the late '20s I think, was a Waco dealer, and I think he flew the Mars flying boats in WW2, was a Pan Am pilot later, and still flying his Pitts in his 80s.
