Not every drawing goes smoothly. This one is a great example, and I post it just because I thought it might make some other aspiring artists feel better about their own work. If nothing else, it will help dispel any ridiculous rumours suggesting that I know what the heck I'm doing.
I managed to screw this one up a number of times, and pen and ink is definitely a medium with a very low tolerance for mistakes. All I can say is thank goodness it wasn't a tattoo...
The initial drawing of the aircraft was wonderful, right up until the point where I drew the two perfect Kremlin stars on the wings. It wasn't until later that I remembered that Russian aircraft never wore stars on the tops of the wings. Doh! Well, as you can see, I weaseled my way out of that as best I could, only to totally pork the exploding tank a number of times. You can only attempt to camouflage an inferior ink drawing so many times before you are left with a big black blob, and that's why the hapless Panzer looks more like an exploding octopus.
Worse, the entire picture ended up a little off-center, and I managed to crease a corner of the paper while leaning over it.
Some days, it's better to just stay in bed.
Anyway, I submit the picture here for your amusement...Merry Xmas!
