N5596V sometime prior to May 24, 1971. Actually the picture is hard to place because of the apparent lack of anti glare panel paint visible in the picture.

44-26996 accepted April 45, F-5G-6-LO to N53752 to CF-GCH with Spartan.

Wrecked May 24, 1971 and then rebuilt over a long time by John Silberman with new nose, convertd to fighter nose later on.

I remember one that crashed at Salt Lake City airport mid 70s and I remember one of the only surviving parts was a vertical with the rudder attached painted just like that. :shock: could that be it?

Not trying to doubt Jack here, but are we sure the P-38 isn't in fact N9957F in the colors it wore while at Tallmantz? The only photos I have seen of N505MH at Reno shows it in either civilian clothing with N505MH in large letters on the boom, or plain metal with nothing on it.
