I have finished the Wisconsin section of the Locator. I have a number of questions that I would like to get answers for, so I now turn it over to WIX...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php?Region=WI

If you are a Wisconsin aviation site expert, or have an interest in such sites, please go to the page via the link above and look for the big red + signs on the right side and read the request for help messages. If you have any info to contribute just click the red + and you will be taken to a form where many of the fields will already be filled out but you can also provide corrections. I will also include the "Need Help" entries below. The goal of this exercise is to…

#1: Make as many of the map links as accurate as possible. In other words I would like to see all map link accuracy indicators in the green.
#2: Improve the data for all locations.

Exact locations are preferred (but not necessary). If you know the exact location but don’t know how to get the coordinates you can get those from two sources. Source #1 is Google Earth…

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator_Map ... oogleEarth

Source #2 is Google Maps…

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator_Map ... GoogleMaps

I am looking forward to any assistance you may be able to provide.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

EDIT: The "Need Help List" has been moved to my most recent post in this thread.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Mike,

Regarding question #19, this is a real aircraft; B-25J/TB-25M 44-30444.

See: http://www.warbirdregistry.org/b25regis ... 30444.html

Hi Mike,

#9 WAM aircraft are stored in a hangar or two on west side of Fond du Lac airport. Here's their website with mailing address. http://www.fdl.net/wami/

#16 Check spelling. It's Truax Field in Dane County. I don't know about a museum there--never checked.

#22 Chuck Greenhill collection not accessible to the public.

#24 PV-2D no longer located at Crites Field in Waukesha with Wisconsin Wing-CAF. Some pieces went to Tim Savage. Airframe now moving/moved to Cavanaugh.

#6: Cadott - There may be a AH-1 displayed at a “Veterans Tribute” in Cadott. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

THERE IS an AH-1S displayed there; I can confirm this.
I have a couple of photos of the AH-1 if you want them.

Location?

So just to clarify… That is west of runway 00/36 and south of runway 9/27 at about the mid point.

Corrected.

Noted.

Noted. Has this CAF wing been dissolved? If not, what aircraft are in their charge?

Thanks for the contributions Dan.

I appreciate the offer, but I am not set-up to accept photos at this time. Scott would likely want to have them for the registry.

I think I already had that one, but I didn’t have the s/n, so thanks!

Changes, updates and corrections will appear in the Locator after tonight’s upload.

27# The Ercoupe is dislpayed atop a shell station on the north side of HWY 21.

Wing is still intact. Last I heard (August) they are still without an aircraft, but looking to purchase an L-bird. Wing Leader told me he was leaning toward an L-19.

Your "wanted" list still asks whether Chuck Greenhill's collection is accessible to the public. The answer is "No".

I can't say for Omro, but I'm 99.9% certain there's an Ercoupe perched on the roof of an establishment in Wautoma, which is a few miles west of Omro. It, too, is located on the north side of HWY 21.

Mike,

I can help you with some of these too.

I don't have my notes in front of me, but off the top of my head:

Yes, there is a cobra in Almond.

Yes there is an F-16 in Arcadia.

Yes there is a T-33 in Madison.

Yes there is a cobra in Mosinee.

And I can help you with others also. I (like Tulio) can also provide photos if you ever get to that point in your locator.

I will dig up my notes, and send you an e-mail with better locations on some of these.

Thanks for all of your hard work on the Locator...

Steve

There are two problems with this one. The satellite images for this area are poor at best. The best are not good enough to show an aircraft the size of an Ercoupe (unless you already know where it is). I also tried Googling ¡§Shell¡¨ in Omro. No luck. Could you tell me between which streets and/or avenues it is located? Lat and lons would be great! ƒº

Excellent. I am looking forward to your email.

Just to clarify, there is a T-33 at the VFW in Madison (43 09 41.74 N 89 20 07.98 W). The question is whether or not there is one displayed at the airport.

--1 Chipmunk
--1 L-29 (not flyable)

Paul,
Thanks for posting the Waukesha rundown. Do you know the identities of any of these birds please?
Mustang will be N5427V, and of course there is N433RD :)
Regards,
Andy Marden

So when you say these are all privately owned/operated you are implying they are not part of one collection and all separately hangared? Is there a “Crites Field Aviation Museum” at the airport? The reason I am asking is that I am trying to identify if there is a collection that may be visited by the public, even if it is only on an appointment basis.

Thanks again for all of the contributions both here and though the website. There are still a number of questions remaining, so I have my fingers crossed.

Mike
