F-111 At The NMUSAF

Tue Dec 04, 2007 6:30 am

Anyone got a picture of the F-111 on display at the NMUSAF? My daughter is working on a report on Operation El Dorado Canyon for school. Thanks...

The museum website has two of them. One in the Modern Flight and the other in the Cold War Gallery. They can be downloaded.

Recently I was doing some research on the USN role in El Dorado Canyon.
Below is a link to a site I found that gives a good overview and has some
period photos.

Great stuff guys but the teacher won't accept anything from a web site. I was hoping for a "snapshot" someone took at the museum of the
F-111 that I could print out for my daughter's poster board project. Everything has to be from a newspaper, magazine, or pictures (teachers make life easy don't they?)

How soon do you need it .... I'll be volunteering in the Modern Flight Gallery on Friday morning and would be willing to take a picture then. Unforunately, the museum is a little to far for me to make a seperate trip before then. I can take my digital in and take a few pictures.

I have a few. The museuam has three. The F-111 in the Vietnam hangar, and the F-111, and EF-111 "spark vark" in the Cold War Hangar.

I posted these on WebShots, they should be big enough for a poster (5meg files). (I didn't take too many F-111 shots last trip)

Great! Thanks for posting! This will be a big help. By the way, was this bird actually one of the 18 used in the mission?

I'm not sure ... I believe the one posted flew during Vietnam during Linebacker II. This looks like the one on display in the Modern Flight Gallery by the Linebacker II exhibit.

Those are both in the Cold War Gallery. There is another one in the Vietnam section of the Modern Flight hangar.
