Well, I finally got around to adding the ol' Ensign Eliminator to my staple of warbird shirts (visit my gift shop at http://www.boomandzoomgraphics.com/gifts.html to see them all)

Here's a peek...

Image

This one got off to a rough start, but I think it ended up being worth the effort. This airplane is a real pain in the ass to draw well, for some reason. Maybe that's why I like it. It's like me: there aren't very many flattering angles you can view it from LOL.

Anyway, enjoy, and have a Happy Turkey Day!

Hmm. If it was done right I'd probably get one. OTOH, maybe they're using the dashes that were left out of their F-22 & A-10 shirts. :)

Hmm, OK, dash removed. Thanks for the heads up. That always did drive me crazy. Vought just had to be different.

Thank goodness for print on demand!

Anyway, it's all better now. See?

Hey, neat shirts!

THANK YOU for yelling, Mint. The misplaced dashes have been a peeve of mine for eons - Jack's "P51-D" comment above was of course a joke, but I have a team on standby ... if anybody thinks that's correct, it's cause for immediate dismissal from the warbird planet!

How so?

F4F-X (last "F" for Grumman)
F6F-X
F7F-X
F8F-X
F4U-X ("U" for Vought)

There's more, but for the WWII, give and take a few years on either side, USN/USMC types, the designation "pattern" was pretty standard . . . 8)

It's not just Vought, it was the U S Navy's designation system of the time. an F-4F is a Phantom, not an F4F Wildcat, an F-8F would be a Crusader, but an F8F is the Bearcat. One of my peeves as well. Another peeve of mine is "Grumman TBM". no, a TBM is GM, Grumman's is TBF. Another peeve that I see a lot of Brits do is use a period instead of a dash, B.29, B.17, B.24 & so on. Designations over the years can get confusing.

Yes, I have a P-51. Not sure if it's a good design or just a popular plane, but it sells pretty well. It features "Slender, Tender and Tall".

Slowly working my way around to as many warbirds (and GA planes) as possible. My goal is to be the one place to go if you are hunting for your favorite plane and can't find it elsewhere. I need to get the usual suspects done first, though. But I'm looking forward to getting past the glamour planes and doing some of the less recognized aircraft before long. There are a lot of fun planes out there that don't get the love they deserve...
