Anybody stopped here and seen this bird just off of I-75, exit 134 I think? If I'm not mistaken it was parked in view of the interstate with a M60 Patton Tank behind the "Christmas Inn".

Well while in the area for the Thanksgiving I stopped by and both the tank and the Huey are gone. From there I drove out to Middlesboro to see Glacier Girl's first home and to see the F-86H on Display there. Surprisingly there is a M60 parked o display next to the Saber. Hmmmm... might be the same tank. But I wasn't able to get close to read any numbers.

On the way back to my Grandparent's house, while surveying the beautiful Smokey Mountains I spotted a UH-1 parked on the side of someone business. As we were expected for dinner I wasn't able to stop and take pictures. I talked my Dad and brother into going back to day to take pictures. Well they went back and the Huey is gone. Either removed from the property or in a hangar like build in back of the business.

Anyone seen this Huey before it was moved and know it's identity?

Hi Shay,

That Huey and the M60 have been gone for several years now...maybe 3 or 4, I'd say. The tank in Middlesboro was there in 2002 when GG flew for the first time and so I think that was before the one in Caryville disappeared. I don't know where they went (I thought they were part of a fireworks store's display). I'll see what I can find out.

Where was the Huey that you saw on the way to the mountains? I'm in the area and maybe can track it down at some point.

Yeah it had been awhile since I had been to my Grandparents. I think I first noticed the tank and Huey being gone this past Memorial Day.

My Grandparents live in LaFollete just off of 63. We would take 63 out to Middlesboro. The place where I saw the Huey was "Tom's Used Farm Equipment" on the southern side of 63. My Dad went to talk to Tom but no one was home. Would interesting to find out his plans. Of course like a lot of people out that way it could end up being used as "Lawn Art" :D

Beautiful country.
