Hi all,

I got great news. The airshow meeting held the other day in Geneseo concluded that the theme for next years Geneseo airshow will definately be a gathering of P-40's. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the P-40. :D 8)

That's great news. I might have to try and get out there for the show. It looks like such a great gathering. Oh, and I LOVE the P-40!!!

Cheers,

David

Hey Scott,

Is there one for the North West? or West for that matter?

I would love to bump into other WIX'ers. I've never met one in person before.

That is the decision for the West Coast WIX members.

Geneseo is such a great time it seems like the only logical choice for the honor. Also we have yet to get kick out after the show and believe me when we pushed the limits of lack of sleep for the weekend. I'll be sure to make the trip up from Nashville this coming year. I may even visit family when I'm in town.

Hi everyone,

I have been working with Frank Schaufler (airshow coordinator) on contacting as many of the flyable P-40 owners in the US as possible. So far the response has been positive from most of the folks he has spoken to... including West coast and Northwest owners.

The biggest hurdle to overcome at this point is cost. As you can imagine, getting a flock of Warhawks from West of the Missisip' is costly. The airshow is looking for any and all folks or companies that would be interested in "sponsoring a P-40" for a corporate sponsor level of $6500.

Also, the fuel this year will be costly... if anyone has an "in" with a petroleum distributor that might look kindly on the cause, please contact me off board.

They are also looking for any Flying Tigers / 14th AF veterans to attend as well. Does anyone have any contact with the veterans groups for them?

We had a group WIX gathering/picture at Chino last year, and will probably attempt it again in 2008

COOL!

I like the sound of this too.....

Second piece of news is that the Museum's Annual USO Memories Show will be held at the Airshow on Saturday Night July 12th. This will be a separate function with a separate ticket needed to attend. No prices have been finalized, either for the airshow or the USO Memories Show. We have only just had the first meeting and are a long way from anything being firm as far as a lot of the details go.

All in All, this is somthing not to miss!! I hope to be there this year.

I wonder if sand-bag or maybe even actual earth reventments could be made? Ohh! maybe even with some Marsden Matting!
:D

Dont suppose that could ever be in the cards? Might as well get all the crazy ideas out during the brainstorming session. :?

Hmmm
I'm not sure I like the sounds of that. I liked it the way it was, I hope the USO thing doesn't mess up closing the tent down Sat Night. :?
