I know that we still have one that is flown out of Houston Texas with the Collins group . Are their any others that are still being flown out side the US ?

P.S. I think that their are Way tooooooooooo many Beer cans/ Soda cans that need to be reused before attacking a Classic on a Airfield for Scrap . For that all mighty dollar ! which it not that all mighty any more !

USAF is still operating QF-4 target drones. And is flying 3 of them on the airshow circuit with the Heritage flights.

I may be wrong, but I thought the Germans were still operating Phantoms as well.

Israelis may have a few F-4Es left but they were parking them as the seat pyros expired.

USAF F-4E drones, there are more than 3 of the jets painted for Heritage use. At least 4 are in SE Asia scheme with light gray undersides, 1 wraparound SE Asia, 1 Euro One sceme, 1 in shiny Hill Grey with orange tail. There may be more, some are at Holloman and some are at Tyndall.

It's nice that the Air Force is saving a few of the old QF-4's for airshows. Finally someone is thinking clealy! I hope I get a chance to see a F-4 fly again. Thanks to the USAF I might be able to.

Nathan, they aren't saving anything. Just because they are in shiny paint does not absolve them from their ultimate fate.

We expect that someday the Collings F-4D WILL be the last Phantom phlying.

Hey Rick, I talked to one of the F-4 pilots, and he was pretty upbeat about the USAF keeping the F-4's around for the Heritage Flights.

are fixed up, flown around then blown up. The F-4s at Reno two years ago went straight to the target range from Reno. Fly'em in rig them as drones blow them up. heaven forbid that anyone gets one to fly!

Well at least they weren't murdered in museums.

I work closely with the east end of the ramp....I asked if I could have one but they were hesitant and I haven't flown one since linebacker 2 so it was probably for the best!

There are a bunch of F-4s (and A-4s as well) available to purchase from the Israeli Gov't surplus agency!! Now if you just had the $$ and the right top level goverment connections to get one home. . . .

Has there ever been any thought of trying to put together a flyby of all the F-4's?

The 3 or 4 USAF examples and the CF's one?

That would be one sweet flight!

Heard that the AF is studying the use of retired F-16A's as target replacements for the Rhino. Hopefully that'll be the case, and a few will be saved!
