If you are around Lancaster, Texas, check the airport out, there are a few there. When I was instructing there many years ago, they were bringing them in by the boat load...

My dad just sold his L-29 to Pete Taylor. They are re-engining it to fly it at Reno.

For what it's worth, I also think you are losing your mind.
I mean, really, who would want an old, heavy, gas guzzler, that's really not very fast?......Oh,yeah, uhm,............... never mind.

Actually, the guys at the museum on the south side of LNC seem to all think that the L-29 is a better airshow aircraft than the L-39, so if you want to do airshow performances, go for the L-29, slower, better power-to-weight ratio than the L-39, and MUCH louder. :)

I'd buy a Fouga :P

I know where 2 L-29's will be coming up for sale soon. PM me.

If it makes your heart go pitter patter or your wife's heart go thumpety thump thump or your girlfriend's heart....or both....ok never mind, just buy the jet if it makes the itch go away. Have you flown one before to see if it's to your liking?

loud ?

Fri Nov 16, 2007 11:21 am

Want a loud jet? It would be cheaper to just buy a diesel truck and take the muffler off. Seriously, investigate, go fly with the guys, not just the one selling it, but find someone who used to own one. Why did he sell, what did he like and dislike? I asks a ex military jet instructor who owns numerous prop warbirds why he didn't have any jets. Part of his reply was there is usually not anyone to fly with at shows. Also for him, a trainer jet was a step down in performance. Now of course there are getting to be more to fly with. Guiys selling them often say how easy they are to fly and cheap to buy. Good luck

nope --- no time in one yet

At Reno this year I started paying closer attention to them. They seem to have some pretty good and stable flight characteristics. I haven't flown hi-perf jets since linebacker 2 so maybe I don't have the right stuff anymore but Im thinking I need to do the jet warbird training thing and see!

:D

In case you flew in the USAF, the L-29 is pretty much commie Tweet as far as performance.

Then you must have been watching a different race from many of the rest of us!

Does anyone seriously believe that we'll ever see the jets racing at Reno again?
