A friend here at work asked me what the significance was of an upsidedown tophat painted along with bombing mission markings (small bombs in a row) on a B-24 in the PTO meant, and I had never seen that before. He saw it in some nose art book. Any clues?
Also, I've seen umbrellas painted on fighters to signify top cover missions, but what would they mean if they were painted on a bomber?
Thanks for any info!
Zack
