Help needed. A derelict twin for a studio

Thu Oct 25, 2007 12:56 pm

A local actor's studio needs a wing from a twin engine aircraft and the nose section. Must be near central north carolina. They have a limited budget to pay for it.

They can check here www.charlotteaircraft.com Charlotte Aircraft used to have lots of derelicts in their yard just east of Charlotte, NC. A friend of mine ferried Martin 404's out of their 1800 foot strip back in the 1970's.
Do a Google Earth search on Delta Air Base, Charlotte NC if you want to see what is in their massive junkyard.

Thanks. I remembered Charlotte aircraft and it's reclamation base at Laurinburg about 5 minutes after I posted to WIX.
For an interesting pic of Charlotte Aircraft (Delta Air Base) in the early '60's
go to Paul Freeman's Abandoned Airfield site. I'm glad to know that your friend ferried 4-0-4's OUT of Charlotte.

Ask for somebody in the hangar at the Carolinas Aviation Museum. While they may not have exactly what you need, perhaps they could steer you in the right direction.

Given their limited budget, would a salvage business/museum "rent" them the pieces?
Similar to some outfits practices in California.
