was the starlifter retired or do some branch's of the service still use it?

The last C-141 (66-0177 "The Hanoi Taxi") was retired from flying status by the US Air Force Reserve in May of 2006.

reason I ask is a news story out of a navy airfield in Bahrain had a 141 sitting on the ramp?????

The airfield the Navy use at Bahrain is also the international airport for the Bahrain.
