After a few years, the selling of the Skyraider and the dispersal of the parties involved, I'm finally posting this video. Pete Townsend and Alan Key, our good friends from England, wanted to try pouring tea while doing rolls like Bob Hoover made famous. I was supposed to be flying for the USAF that day and was driving to the base when Bud Granley called and told me I was needed for a more important mission. As I recall, I called my scheduler and told him I had a flat tire or some such nonsense and I wouldn't be able to make it in so they canxd the line. That’s why I’m still in my uniform.
Anyhow, we loaded up the Skyraider with a pot of Earl Grey tea, two Brits, one Canadian super pilot and a misplaced Texan. Operating under the "it's better to ask forgiveness than permission" theory, we didn't tell the owner what we were gonna do with his plane. I'm not sure he knew until he saw the video a few days later. This video is the result of about 45 rolls, much spilled tea, unbelievable fun and one of my best memories of my time with the Olympic Flight Museum. It was also one of the highlights of my "warbird career".
