Presentation of the DFC & Purple Hearts to members of the 44th FS on Guadalcanal July 20, 1943

(L-R) Capt "Maggie" Francis-5.5 kills, Capt Jack Bade-5 kills, Capt Bob Byrnes-5 kills, & Capt Mel "Doc" WheaDon-7 kills.
Between these 4 men are 547 combat missions,22.5 kills, DSC, 2 Silver Stars, 5 DFCs, 3 Purple Hearts, 37 Air Medals & 14 campaign stars

As always, thanks for another terrific picture, but more importantly, all that detailed information for someone like me who does not have that knowledge about these courageous men.
