So, I know that this has been debated before, but is the 4-gun ball turret in the second picture something that was being designed for the YB-40, or just for B-17/B-24 in general? I can't imagine how loud that would be for the gunner! I would also think it would consume so much ammunition, at such an incredible rate, that it would require additional weight in ammo to be loaded. Does anyone know what the story was on this turret?

Thanks!

kevin

cool shots - I have a few that are similar to the first two - it was a training device used in Wendover for the ball turret guys. My understanding is that it (the one in Wendover) was a fully functioning turret - guns and all.

I sent them to him.

John is a really good guy and I feel bad about what happened to him.

Sadly, Mr. Peters succumbed to an accute case of "Epidermis Minimus".
As our Brit friends might observe, he exited with a "ripping good flounce"....
tho some members noted, an inexpeditious flounce.

Sorry to see him go.

OK, what happened to him? He routinely opened up hot topic political discussions and asserted his point of views as the only correct point of view. If you dared let on that you had a different view (or political stance) he would come at you with "both guns blazing". Apparently someone "bit back" and he didn't like it, so he made a big show of deleting his posts (yikes) and saying farewell.
Someone made a comment after his departure "you reap what you sow". I think that about says it all. He had some great input on the ball turret stuff and warbirds in general, but people are acting like this community banished him. He is choosing not to post. I'm sure he is still reading the forum on a daily basis. We need to let this thing go. Just my opinion  .

I hate to see any of us go. That is all I meant. The aviation community is small and the warbird one is even smaller. We are all good Scott.
