Since people seem to think the off-topic section is for political discussions, which are frowned upon and are now BANNED. People can't seem to control themselves (you know who you are). Any further political discussions will be deleted and the user banned for 30 days. This site is about aviation in general and warbirds in particular. If you want a soap box go somewhere else, I'm done with moderating children. Violate the rules and your gone. Fair warning.

Although I have rarely taken part in any of the political battles that have taken place on this forum, I agree with your position 100%. The Off Topic forum should only have been used for it's original purpose, the posting of mildly pornographic videos of hot chicks in ball turrets.

Hi Scott, were you able to save the "Funny Pictures" thread? It wasn't causing too much trouble...

Yeah I'm guilty of taking some political bait in the OT section...but then again the other stuff in there was good at building a since of community in the forum. The more we know about each other (other than the ugliness of some of the political threads) the more we tend to bond as a community of people and not just 100% pure airplane nuts...I know I know...that in itself sounds blasphemous...

That being said this is Scott's playground that he is gracious enough to open for us to play in...

Now let's hope we can keep from throwing sand at each other over a space shuttle pic....

Too much? sorry Scott.

It was a good move Scott. I never even looked at that thread because it wasn't something I wanted to get into with anybody!
Thanks.

Might I suggest you should have said "SOME people seem to think the off-topic section is for political discussions..." Boss?
Please reconsider your decision and don't deprive the majority for the failings of the minority.

There was alot of good stuff in there...TimApNy's and others nature photos, armor schtuff, guns, humour, movies,
cawfy-tawk..no big woop, chit-chat, phony heroes, motorcycles, hot rods, music for warbirds, ball turret babes....
ad nauseum for the lovers of our small niche culture.

Suggestion for the heading.....
Off Topic(POLITICAL DISCUSSION WILL BE NUKED WITH 30 DAYS IN THE HOLE FOR 1st OFFENSE)
...a pretty no nonsense banner.

Funny? PG-13? WTF BOSS? What's funny about PG-13?

How about an "Aviation Related" topic for non-warbird i.e. Space Shuttle (there I said it  ) and other aviation type stuff? Just a thought... I'm glad to see the political stuff go...

We'll see how long this will last? The political rules have been on the books a while.. I'm sure it will be back. It's how you twist it and throw it out there. What happened to " If you don't like it don't read it?" :?:
Anyway it should remain closed.. There was very little information on there of any value and it has created more hared feelings than it has generated.. For myself there is nothing like throwing a hand full of airshow VIP passes in the trash that expressed my feelings generated by it.. Anyway the board has absolutly no advertising of any kind so it can be self supporting... The board really needs a mission statement of where it wants to go and promote.. For me there was alot to learn from people like Gary and helldiver.. Let's raise the bar and get out of the mud and promote a higher level of conversation other than Politics and religion..

Sorry for collectively lumping all people who visited the OT forum together, I choose my words poorly in that regard and should have clarified that some people were acting that way.

I will consider pruning the annoying posts out and returning the OT forum afterwords sometime this week. However, while I have let things slide on the political stuff somewhat in the past, that time is over.

There is one for general aviation though it is part of the Air Racing, Aerobatics forum. :)

And I decide to start a section for Non-Aviation Military discussions, past or present military. This will be a good place to discuss armor, infantry, navy, and coast guard stuff that doesn't pertain to aviation.
