It's a Johnson Rod alright but it is missing the Framus Bushing.

Just how short was the bus you two went to school on? :D

Mine only had one seat behind the driver...but he was two rows behind the steering wheel.

OK, I admit I'm a dick...but really. It appears to be from aluminum, a blind bore with a zerk. No bushing in the bore. The handle seems to say "Flap" and the second hole in image three may be a tapped hole for a set screw.

I am confused why you would have a set screw hole to lock the handle on but have a zerk to provide lubrication for something that does not turn.

Sorry, I rode the short bus, remember?

All true - except the part about the set screw hole. There's two holes set up for a #1 taper pin. And there's a part number: 36-52621. Also has a NAA inspection stamp.

That is nothing like I have ever seen on a Harvard 4. Does it have any numbers on it?

Just that part number that I posted.

All you guys are wrong. That's a laptop computer and a fountain pen.
Don't know what that paperweight thingy is.

Handle- Flap Control Rear Harvard Mk.II & IIA, both built in the US I believe. Info from the Harvard illustrated parts manual.

Mk.IIB was built in Canada. Might have had the same handle though.

Harvard 4 has a perpendicular flap shaped feature on the end of the handle that is quite different.
