Well, last weekend I got the chance of a lifetime... To fly in Ol’ 927! Thanks to Gary, Becky and TA of the CAF for making it a reality!

Me and my Dad... After this pic was taken I said to him “did you ever think we would be doing THIS 25 years ago?!” He laughed and said Nope!
Image

Other than a C-47 in the AF, Dad had never flown in anything from WWII. Oddly enough, my only other flight like this was in an old DC-3!

Sean and Mike, who had also helped me with the painting of the Ol’ 927 nose art.

Congrats Chad!

In the old days, there was only one bad thing about riding Diamond Lil: No fresh air flow! It looks like a pretty nice ride now with some open windows! Take care and we'll see you guys at next year's OSH/WIX party.

I agree, I took a flight in 909 with my father a couple of years ago. The memory of that will be with me forever.

Chad,

Thanks for posting the "in action" photographs of the ride. It gives me some idea how everything works while in flight. I am curious about the airflow with everything opened up--there was a windbreak of sorts just behind the waist windows in some of the photos of "A" models that I have, I presume to keep the blast down for the tail gunner. I'm glad you all had fun!

Scott
