I read where there were two aviation accidents in one day at that airport - a Murphy Moose and a P-40K. Sounds like the P-40 went up on it's nose (i.e. light damage) on the runway. Any idea which aircraft it was?

That does not look like any P-40 that I have seen. It is a homebuilt.

There was a second, more minor incident at Springbank later in the day.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., a single-engine replica of a Second World War-era fighter plane went off the end of the runway while landing. The pilot wasn't injured, but the plane's nose was damaged.

A little late replying to this, but the P40 replica is a scaled down, amateur built Foster (builder name Wayne Foster) P-40K registered C-GGAV and powered by a 6-440-C5.

Springbrook airport is the old RCAF Station Penhold just out side of Red Deer, home of Air Spray and Buffalo Airways.
