At the risk of being politically incorrect, and the possible reciepient of a few law suits, and not meaning to cause a couple of stopped hearts.....my inquiring mind wants to know , why the North Vietnamese Air Force pilots were called Gomers.

I know Private Pile was a popular subject on the boob-tube during that period of time, but I never did get the connection...Whaz up?

Didn't Gen. Old's quote that the enemy did not wear G-suits and it took a big old gomer to pull out?
