Hello Everyone:

There was considerable debate regarding a rumor of a Japanese airplane in Lake Washington. Someone on this board claimed it was disproven. However I contacted two good sources on the subject: Robert Mikesh and the Museum of Naval Aviation, Director.

The Director denied any knowledge of this aircraft, and said it is outside the Navy's authority. He basically said to try to get permission from someone else if it does exist.

Chris Mikesh, Robert Mikesh's son asked Robert about this, and says that there was a B5N Kate which was stored near Lake Washington by the Navy shortly after WW2. He said there is no record of it being scrapped, and was wondering where it went. He also said it is highly probable that it was dumped in the lake.

now that would be a problematic one I would guess.

japanese so no bureau number,
owned by the US navy at one time,
dumped same as some other US navy stuff and more obviously so than some they now want.

I wonder how that one would go for salvage with the current hands off policy in place?

I'm surprised that only one person has responded to this. I suppose a relative lack of interest in Japanese planes? I'm also surprised that noone has tried to counter this claim as they said it was disproven earlier.

Thanks,

Chris

Col. Rohr:

Tell me who you talked to; the nuts and bolts details, and go into specifics. If you do so I'll be convinced, otherwise w/o hard data you could be, no kidding, just shooting the breeze.

Hey Mr. Rohr:

Actually I talked to Mr. Curry. Please give me a link to your old data, because we're up to 26 pages of messages. If not please clarify the details.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey Mr. ROhr:

Ok, but that doesn't explain the situation on the Kate.
