According to the NASA website...

"Having participated in some of the most significant projects in aerospace history, NASA 008 was formally retired on Dec. 17, 2004 in a joint NASA and U.S. Air Force ceremony and returned to the Air Force. It is now in non-flyable outside storage awaiting arrangements for planned permanent public display near the north gate of Edwards Air Force Base."

Wow! That's one old BUFF. The windows for the downstairs crew (Nav/Radar Nav) weren't there on the D-models so this must predate the 1956/57 contract D's that were flying in the early 1980s.

B-52B or C ???

Yep, its a B model, the NB-52B to be exact, the previous mothership was an A model, and balls-8 replacement is a repainted H-model.

It's very PC, don't you think? A warthog with shark's mouth might offend someone! :)

Sorry, guys !

I flubbed the coordinates. Can't read my own handwriting.

Should be 34 55 36.83 N 117 53 15.51 W

Sorry for teasing Walt... couldn't resist :P Been a long time since I've been to Sedona but I recall it was a peace and quiet place and not normally associated with a warbird.

Never been to Sedona, but I'd like to visit sometime.

No offense taken. Glad you pointed out the mistake. I was writing the coordinates down in a hurry, and when I looked at them later, the 117 looked like 111.
