Word from Mecca in Texas, Breckenridge, Texas that is that they ran the left engine today and will run it some more on Lefty's/Red Bull's P-38 tomorrow. I'm sure that Cdmr. Brooks will have some photo's to follow.
Congrats and a well done to Nelson Ezell and the whole crew at Ezell Aviation...

For the historian in me.......what would be the factory colors of the P-38 landing gear legs and wheels?
Thx,

I can't wait until they scuff up the shiny stuff and get the "White Lightnin" scheme back in place.

What a beautiful 'Bird! Can't wait to see it fly. No white paint right? the polished skin looks so good... and the intake scoop work photos on the website under "induction" are fantastic.
Metalwork craftsmanship is alive and well in Texas!
Nice Stuff!

Not me, it's obviously going to be in a pre-war or prototype paint job which I think is going to look absolutely fantastic.

IIRC from the books I have, the main wells & oleo are painted aluminum, including the inside of the doors. Not sure about the front well.
And I could be wrong, of course.
cheers

I agree except for the white. Leave the polsihed stuff, but add the red and blue markings from White Lightning. Kind of the best of both worlds.
