As reported in AM this is now completed..

However the marking will "not be revealed until the unveiling of the the exhibit at Vigna di Valle"

As Gregory Alegi (who supplied the picture) inhabits this place.. can you let us know when this unveiling will take place.. i.e how long we have to wait until we see her in all her glory?

Thanks

Paul

Gregory will be able to add more, but it is now painted as an aircraft of 162 Sq., 161 Group based at Maritza, Rhodes, Greece in 1941.
There is a photo of it in the upcoming Classic Wings, out this week.

But still no photo!!!

Still it is interesting.. The secret markings was a result of a Internet Poll with the results published ans sample profiles to help you judge!!!!

AM should have looked harder!

LOL

When looking at the photograph in Aeroplane Monthly, there was the fuselage of (I think) another CR-42 in the background. Possibly TFC's example?

Cheers

Hey guys, the only day on which WIX discusses something Italian and I am away for the whole day! I do have a valid excuse, however: I was at Venegono Superiore, home of the Aermacchi factory, to witness the first formal display of the new M-346 twin-jet trainer.

Just outside the airport fence was the AREA workshop with the CR.42, but I couldn't go see it. Pity!

The poll on the GAVS website was totally unofficial and certainly not binding on the Air Force. Anyway, various factors favoured the Ethiopian theatre livery, but the Chief of Staff overruled them in favour of the Aegean scheme.
