We have upated the Warbird Digest website. www.warbirddigest.com If you have not had an opportunity to see the first issue you can view it from the intro page by clicking on the link. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you have a high speed connection, however.

Dear Mr. Colonel Rob:

Two things you MUST know in life:

1. Don't mess with Texas

2. Don't you ever, ever, EVER! mess with the P-51s!! : )

Otherwise, I will be forced to make a peregrination to your restaurant, and challenge you to a duel; you choose the weapons: Gyros or Hamburgers.

AH!! I have just (three minutes ago) subscribed to the Warbird Digest!

Saludos,

Tulio

Well, you are not that bad, then, huh? You have Texas on you!

As for the weapons, Gyros, sir.

20 paces, ONE bottle of sauce on the side.

Saludos!

They faced the Japaneses who flew in aluminium cans with no armour.

Do not compare a Zeke with a Fw 190, because it's like comparing a Suzuki Aerio with a Mercedes Class G jeep...

I seem to recall those "aluminum cans" giving the Aussie Spits a pretty rough time...

Perhaps it's time for one of Scott's famous polls:

What would you rather fly: Round & dependable or pointy & leaky?

I would not go as far as calling the Spits "trash" but certainly they do nothing for me. With the exception of one model (I care so little for Spits, that I do not even know their designations) that has a bubble canopy, the others look to me like the typical British designs of the era, graceless. (Hampden, Battle, Stirling, many of the Miles designs)

The one that in my opinion saved the day was the Hurricane, elegant looking and that, if I recal correctly, was more numerous than the Spits during the early stages of the war.

Now, round versus in-line... dunno, because the Mustang is the airplane I like the most, but I have a soft spot for the Corsairs and the T-28s. A Tigercat also looks extremely nice, what with the two radials and the narrow cross section fuselage.

Now, let me run for cover, because the barrage is coming this way. : )

Saludos!

I think you have it backwards... The round ones are the leaky ones- if the pointy ones are leaking you better step out!

Randy:

Choose Gyros or Hamburgers, and let the Col. have it.

You will have to stand in line though, since I have "dibs" on illustrating the distinguished gentleman from Maine on the finer points of a REAL airplane such as the '51.

Or, as they say in my neck of the woods, Rob:

"I'm gonna learn you, boyh! : )

Saludos!

No Rob, the O-2, T-37, A-37, UC-78/T-50 are the Cessnas of the Warbird Movement :D

Heh, the P-51 a REAL airplane, its just motorized glider, not a real aircraft like a Corsair, Invader or Skyraider
