Corsair Gathering 2002

I was curious as to what warbirds were present besides the Corsairs at the 2002 event at Indy.

Does anyone have a list of aircraft that were in attendance?

I was there with 862. What a great time. It was my first airshow as a pilot/owner and I met Jimmy Franklin among others. I was accepted, and excellent advice given.

A great time, also meeting the surviving Blacksheep!

Lessee...there was a Harpoon, a highly polished P-51, the P-47 'Hun Hunter 16' (very nice) a few B-25's, a TBM in early war paint scheme came in late, the normal collection of T-6's and trainers....and depressingly, through NO fault of Mint's efforts, only SEVEN Corsairs in total of the 25 expected....it just was'nt QUITE what we had hoped for, but we had fun anyway....and Mint bought dinner one night (mucho apprecianado)

I think all of Tom Wood's warbirds were there (Bearcat, Mustang, Sabre, and a Texan)

I was there. It was an excellant show but very hot weather. Sadly two of the Corsair pilots who performed at that show have been killed. Joe Tobul and just lately Gerald Beck. Regards Carl
