Late last month I stopped in Amarillo, I can't remember the name of the major airport there, but on the north-west side of the airport I noticed some Viet-Nam vintage a/c outside....I parked my rig and went inside..I was informed by some people there that this museum was closed and were in the process of moving out all the aircraft... Still there was....DeHaviland Caribu.....UH-1 Slick.....Bell Cobra.....F-84....Mohawk.....F-100.(it is to be mounted on a pole off I-40 on the East side of town)....F-8 Corsair???(jet)....CRS is setting in, but I believe there were 1or 2 more....Inside there was a rocket engine from a Titan missle...bound for a museum in New Mexico...lots of different types of a/c parts...a (shaky-Jake) Jacobs off a Cessna U-78....and lots of Cobra parts....I did'nt know this museum existed......wonder what the fate of the rest of the a/c will be....The people there told me that the Caribu had been started about a year ago....but it looks like it probably will be scrapped on location....what a shame...Gary

I think there is military on the field, when I was there I saw a commercia airliner land, and a twin Commander doing some "crash-and-dashes"....Somebody told me that the Osprey is built there at the airport too, maybe this was the choppers that you saw?...............Gary

It is listed in the Locator...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php ... ,Type=F-84

I have just included a new entry to note the possibility of the F-84 being mounted. If you happen to be back in the area and note anything new please let me know.

If anyone is interested in being on the Locator email distribution just go to...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/UserLogin.php

...and login. You will be taken to a page where you can choose to be on the distribution.

Regards,

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.
