Interstate L-6 stars sizes

A buddy of mine is finishing his L-6 & we're in a quandry about the stars. I know I've seen guidelines for size & location of WWII a/c markings & probably have that info in my model building stuff 'somewhere'. He wants to use the star on the blue disc, no bars. We've guesstimated the sizes, but just for kicks I thouht I'd ask here. Anyone here know the size for the fuselage & wing stars & their 'standard' locations? Thanks.

I think the stars went up in size by five inch increments. they are suppose to be 3/4 of the fuselage height and spaced evenly between the wing trailing edge and the horizontal stab leading edge.

Star and bar sizes are determined by a formula that utilizes a specific dimension of the aircraft being marked. T.O. 07-1-1 gives the formula for size and placement of all generic placards as well as the stars and bars. I can't fiind my copy of that T.O., or the training manual for aircraft painters which also has the formulas and placement data as well.

There is also a book that can be found at Amazon.com and other places that is a compliation of all of the marking standards from the 1930's through 1947, including all the revisions and revampent of the marking standards for that time period.

The 5" increment is a current USAF standard and would not be applicable to anything in the inventory prior to about 1989, ( I think this was the orgination date for that standard).
