Since the untimely death of Gerry Beck who I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to see his shop in September of 2005 will Tri-State Aviation continue to be the force it had become when Gerry was with us?
I know that their are probably for sure 3 distinct projects that were going on the first being the P-51C. I would't be surprised if there is one or more P-51 projects being worked on as well.
Lastly I believe Gerry made about 10 of everything when he built with the help of a very talented crew the ultimate homebuilt the P-51A what might become of that project?
I fully realize that it has been only 3 weeks since Gerry's passing, but I would think that Gerry would want his team to carry on with all of the above. Any imput especially from John Beyl would be appreciated as Gerry performed such a great service for the Mustang people.
Ed,
Cindy gathered all the employees together at the shop on Monday, July 30th and told them, “As difficult as this is, Gerry is gone but it’s business as usual”.
While Gerry was building the company he had the foresight to hire very talented people and share his knowledge with them over the years. Even though Gerry was the point guy in the company, anybody who has worked with Tri-State knows it’s the talented people he hired, trained and mentored that day in and day out turn out the quality product they are known for worldwide.
Cindy and the rest of the crew are all pulling together to make this difficult transition into a new era at Tri-State as seamless as possible. There are many projects on the books including Harry Barr’s repaired Mustang which should fly in the next week or so, the CAF C model, and six other projects in the works that I am aware of.
It’s too soon to know for sure what will become of the A model production run. I’m fairly certain I know the answer but Cindy is the last word and we need to give her the space and time she needs to make the final decision and announcement regarding it.
Tri-State remains one of the premier restoration shops in the country. Past, current and future customers should have every confidence they plan on maintaining that status far into the future. If you need them to tackle a project for you, do give them a call with the confidence they will be there to serve your needs.
Regards,
John
