Hi Guys.
I just received word that the Halifax will be moving into her new home this saturday at approx 10am. Is anyone going that just happens to have a camera and just happens to love taking and posting pics of large 4 engined raf bombers???

Thanks for the reminder. I will probably head down and see if I can get some pics without getting in the way!

I plan on being there and I may just take a few pics I have a bit of a cold right now I'm fighting so as long as I have the energy I will be there.

I would like try to attend if possible..the weather looks kinda wet but it will be the last chance to see the Halifax outdoors I guess...

I might be there, but with the weather forecast it might not be worth the trip. When is the new addition supposed to be done and NA337 on display? Will this weekend be the last chance to see it before it is officially unveiled?

Well I am invisioning standing around in the rain waiting for a move that won't happen in the rain. Now visualising that... imagine driving 3 hours one way to get to stand around in the rain for nothing to then drive 3 hours back. Not my idea of a good time. If I were on my way by, for example going to Toronto, I would certainly stop by.

Besides you are not going to see a fully assembled Hali outside. I haven't asked around but I don't think the cockpit section is not attached to the forward fuselage since that would make it too tall for removal from the building. I also don't think the outer wings are attached either since the current building is not large enough. Has anyone been there recently to confirm?

The way I figure it I might was well wait to see it fully assembled inside. I still have more cockpit pictures on my list of things to do, so don't worry, I am sure you will get more pictures!

I visited last week and the outer wings are not attached but it was assembled from nose to tail feathers with plexi in the cockpit. They still have a way to go and the wings will be installed once it is in the new building. On a sad note the new building will not have hangar doors and the Halifax will be sealed in. There was only a patch of floor layed in the new hangar and the rest was still dirt.

I was at the museum this morning to see if they were still going to move her. They have opened up the entire rear of the building for the move.

Just think of a can opener!

I was told the move was a go and that they need to move NA337 to her new home so they can close in the new building. They are hoping by mid December that work on the new building will be complete. There will be no public access to NA337 until then.

She will not be rolled out on her undercarriage, but on truck axles. My guess is for easier steering.

Mike, Keep an eye out for me as I should be there tomorrow morning. I can't help but wonder if the Halifax has enough ground clearance when it comes out of the hangar. It looks like the elevation drops a little from the hangar floor. I'm sure they have that figured out.

Ya know, Mike, that sounds like mine and the Colonels trip to Portland! All Rain All the Time. I got up at O Dark Thirty, drove 2 & 1/2 hours in the driving rain and spent the next 4 hours taking pictures in the rain. And drove back in the pouring rain. But it did make for some interesting photos. Espescially after my camara lenses fogged up!
