Warbird Information Exchange

I have a mate who is rebuilding a fairly unknown and unheard of ex RAAF Boomerang fighter will take many years tho to get her fully rebuilt as it is a single person rebuild. Not sure if he will fly or static it.

How well liked is the Boomerang i wonder? in the general warbird community?

I have a soft spot for the Boomerang. It is such a unique airplane, and I love the design and how it came to be.

I can't wait to see how your friend's example comes along over the next few years.

It would be nice to see more of this unique aircraft flying.

Is there a chance that you would sell off what you dont need after, say a restoration is complete? The Fighter Factory, and top notch places like that would more than likely try and aquire a fighter like that!

But seriously. I am amazed you have three airframes. That's got to be something like half the entire population of Boomerangs in the world!

P.S. My dream is to one day have a Boomerang in Canada. I know stealing it away from the country it belongs is really mean, but I think it would be an absolute eye catcher anywhere it goes in North America and it would serve to tell the nearly unknown story of Australian Air Defence during World War Two. What I mean by that is most of us over here in North America don't know how close Japanese forces got to Australia. Anywho, good luck with everything.

Send us some Canadair Sabre 6s and then ill talk LOL i so want a Sabre 6 as they are on par with our CAC Sabre mk 32

Matthew Denning running up his Boomerang's engine. This is the only genuine fully original Boomerang that's currently airworthy anywhere in the world. Now owned and operated by the Temora Aviation Museum in NSW, Australia. (Yes it was raining - the farmers were very happy, we weren't.)

Now that is the kind of museum I want to create!

Just substitute 2 Spitfires for Corsairs, Maybe a replica Zero and Val, SNJ, BT-15, Ventura, and of course a new build Kingfisher and VS-300.

Not to mention the available Sikorsky helicopters around.

-Ultimate goal- Recover the remains of the VS-44A in Uruguay and have it take to the skies once more.

The Connecticut Historical Aviation Museum

Hi warbird kid, genuine parts are hard enough to find to make one let alone the three

In all seriousness the ultimate aim is one flyer, one static and one cockpit (so the kiddies can sit in it)

But as we all know $$$$$$ is the main constraint. So is realistic terms we will probably end up with 2 statics and a cockpit. When finished my two A46-67 and 129 will be displayed (hopefully) in the Caboolture Warplane Museum and A46-?? (16,17 or 20) will be placed wherever my mate decides he is going to shove her. There is currently 12+ boomerangs in Oz in various stages of rebuild with around half that population going to airworthy.

6 sitting & 6 possibly flying is good news!!!!!!!!!!
