Well, chances are, we'll never see this one leave Russian hands, but hopefully money will be found to create a new, state of the art museum and preserve these aircraft better.

It is good that it's in a museum, but ya know, I'd have to say it "could" be doing better. It's nice to see though. Very cool.

Ah yes...the A-20 retained for testing by Douglas, finally after the merger being employed to test the F-4 stabilator configuration at low speeds... :roll:

The sad thing is that this Havoc was for sale in Trade-A-Plane a number of years ago, when it was still in pretty good condition. Obviously, no takers, and its gone downhill more as each year passes.

Repairs are currently underway after it had an U/C collapse thru weight of snow last winter.
As for it being for sale, I doubt that was legal :wink:

Yes, Dave, it really was for sale, along with the museums' P-63 and another aircraft I don't recall. The ad also contained small photos of the planes.

No, what you mean is 'it really was in Trade-a-Plane'. Not the same thing as actually being 'for sale'. :wink:

Okay, Mike, as you seem to know that a FOR SALE ad, with contact numbers for interested parties and pictures of the items, means the items are not for sale, how about explaining.

FOR SALE, B-24J Bomber must sell. Have been in storage for 50 years! All original. Large cache of extra parts. OBO.

Your right, we should be glad that this A-20, as well as the rest of the collection is preserved. It is a large and impressive collection that boasts of course the last B-29 knock-off, the TU-4. This is really a first for me, but I say the aircraft should stay in the collection, but I wish there was enough money to kick around, to put half those aircraft under a roof and restore them to expert quality.

Not unknown in Russia, somebody offering aircraft for sale, without the Museum or the actual owners knowing about it!
Anyone remember the new Me109F still in its crate being offered in Trade -a-Plane?' ......You could view it as long as you paid 20K for the privilege.....

Dave - thanks for your mature, respectful, non-smart aleck response and explanation. As everyone in the warbird community would recognize those aircraft as belonging to the Russian Museum, its hard to imagine a prospective buyer not contacting the museun regarding the planes, but then its also hard to figure why any party would exert the effort and money to place a bogus ad, especially as this would seem to expose them to the Russian officials. I have read WARBIRD RECOVERY, so knew some of the shenanigans that go on, but I thought this ad was legitimate since they were the museums' aircraft. Anyhow, thanks again.

It never ceases to amaze me why people spend time and money creating spam and sending it to my email, but it happens almost every day. I guess it comes down to out of every million people who read it, at least one is going to be a gullible idiot who'll think it's for real.
