Glen, I know she captured the hearts of a certain group of judges......
Quoted from Gary Austin on the sticky "Lil to 927" thread:
"I reckon the news that Alan Brooks is wanting me to share with y'all is that Ol' 927 was given the Judges' Choice, Bomber Award. I accepted the award at the banquet on Saturday night, on behalf of the CAF. I think that the Squadron will display the plaque in the airplane during the tour season this year." My apologies John, I snagged one of your pics from the 927 thread. Alan

What is the guy with the "pole" doing in that picture?

Does he have a virtual set of goggles on and a camera mounted on that pole?

If so, that is probably pretty cool to have pics at that angle!

I was wondering the same thing as he was walking around taking different angle shots. This was taken during the flight crew reenactment so maybe he was trying to get some close-ups of the pilot & co-pilot in the cockpit.

My first sighting of Ol' 927 was in the air as I was coming in to land from a little aerobatic ride over Lake Winnebago in the T-33 and she looked magnificent! Wish I could have joined up with her over the lake! As I taxied in after landing and taxied toward her, I keyed the mic on the ATC freq and said, "that B-24 looks sensational!". Later, I had the pleasure of meeting Gary in person and seeing the B-24 and his craftsmanship up close and the airplane is stunning!

On Sat I really hoped to fly with the bombers, to do something more interesting than just flying around in a circle single file again. I had gone down to Aeroshell area to say hi to Gary and see the plane and hear Sen. McGovern, and I asked the bomber guys if they were up for fighter escort. Then on Sat, 297 was up at the warbird parking, sure wanted to taxi over and fly next to them, but the airshow is pretty much the same thing every day and they don't ask what you want to do, I didn't even see it in the air. She looks good and I like the paint job. So Gary can take a well deserved rest and and get back to his viper petting zoo.

This was my first Oshkosh, and seeing Ol 927 was one of the highlights for me. Unfortunatley I was there for work, so I never got a chance to take a look inside.
