Thanks Jack, you'da Man! I picked up on Major Preddy in the middle but should have realized that was L/C Meyers on the right looking at his jacket patch.
TJ, I don't have a clue on when N5411V was shot - these photos were part of a collection that was loaned to me a number of years ago and which I scanned.
ZTex, I like the H model too - has that lean look to it. There's a few viewing angles that are "off", especially with the gear down, but aircraft should be judged while flying in their element!
Enjoy the Day! Mark

Gentlemen,
Can fully appreciate the the humor in the thread title. It made me chuckle.
Can also appreciate the importance of getting the pilot's names correct in the group photo. It is important to history that these get recorded accurately, so we know who was actually there. It is also a matter of respect for their contribution to the history. And also a matter of showing repect for history overall. I'm mean if we flippantly decided to give these guys erroneous nicknames, just for fun, it just wouldn't be cool would it? And should these errors somehow catch on in the collective perception of the period, it could drastically alter and obscure historical accuracy to the point where it might possibly never be overcome. IMHO,kind of like how the term "razorback" has attained common usage without an apparent reliable source supporting it's correct period usage.
So for the record, of the non-"razorback" D's shown, photos 1&2, and 10 (from top down) are more correctly P-51K's. You might like to compare the Dorsal Fin Fillet of photo 1 to that of N5411V.
Thanks for sharing the images and identifying the people.

Top two Mustang pics are of a K model destined for Royal Australian Air Force. RAAF flew D's, K's and local CAC built aircraft...

Thanks Oscar Duck and Charles - I'll get my file names corrected. Charles, the 10th pic is the head on view with the ferry or test pilot. Are you meaning N5411V?
Enjoy the Day! Mark

I do not know if the civie Mustang, N5411V is a P-51D or original built K. I did realize that the a/c in 1&2 were the same RAAF Mk IV. i'd seen the photo of the Ferry pilot but did not know it was supposed to the earlier aircraft. great info.
I was attempting to draw a comparison between the two different dorsal fin fillets as seen on the RAAF MkIV as opposed to the seen on N5411V.
Both Dallas and Inglewood aircraft were produced with BOTH types. It appears that the earlier of the two type has a curved top edge.
Thanks again
