Hello All,

I am just curious - after seeing the latest issue of CWD. How far along is the east-coast A-20 under rebuild to airworthy project? Is it actively being worked on?

How about the "Down Under" ones under rebuild or the last airworthy one that was sold recently?

I love the A-20 and would to see one in the air (in the near future)!

Hi there,

I was recently in the Beaver Falls area and made my way out to the Air Heritage Hangar. I had seen a photo where they had hung the engines and props. But when I got there only the #2 engine was still hung with the new prop having been removed. The #1 engine had also been removed. But I can tell you that they are working on the "Turtle Deck" area and hatch covers along the spine of the airframe, along with the cockpit, and instrument panel. I do have some photo's of the instrument panel and everything else, but bear in mind that due to the lighting in the hangar at the time the photo's are a shade too dark for my liking. Also, Air Heritage has pushed the P-39 over into a corner of the hangar, and have no plans to continue work on it for the near future due to parts and support issues from the actual owner of the plane.

I'll post what I got recently here soon. But to me at least there is slow, but steady progress being made.

No work is presently being carried out on the Oz examples, look for an update on Precision in the next issue, some great progress on some of the other projects instead.

Isn't there one finished in PNG in storage or something? I think it is a G model.

'H@ll n' Pelican', USAAF, solid nose & turret, was restored by the RAAF alongside 'J for Jessica' for the PNG Government, and is stored at RAAF Amberley, Queensland, awaiting display facilities to be prepared in PNG. 'J for Jessica' is at the RAAF Museum, Point Cook. Approximately eight part A-20 / Bostons wrecks were recovered from PNG by the RAAF, and the deal was a restored example would be returned.

Covered in Classic Wings recently and also Warbird Digest some time ago, as well as other magazines.

Dave - Just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the article on the surviving A-20s. You folks do a superb job, and its very appreciated.

The former LSFM Havoc has been removed from the museum hangar. Its getting ready to go to the west coast for its trip down under.

Whats going on with Kermits? At least I think that's who bought the one that sat at Fox Field in Lancaster Ca for years during stirling duty as a pigeon house.
Hope it's being worked on as moving an aircraft from desert storage to swamp storage would appear to be a step backwards...

Kermit's is in deep storage in the desert at the Aero Trader facility. Don't look for that airplane on the flight line any time soon.

Sorry to say that few did when Crowood was carrying it and I have about five or six new ones still available. Pricey but a good book.
