Did anyone else catch the episode of Boneyards dealing with the disposal of unwanted aircraft on the Histroy Channel the other nite? In addition to showing aircarft being cut up they showed the recovery and restoration of Red Bull's DC-6. What an amazing job restoring that airplane. I sure would like to see that plane make a trip over to the states someday!

I caught it. I though it was a great program and I recommend it if comes up again. I do have a greater respect for the red bull team. They are a first class outfit that wants to preserve flying history. That DC 6 is a beautiful machine.

Yeah,
I caught part of it and I think I will try to catch it when it comes up again. But I gotta say one thing here. After working on 747's for so long, it kind hits too close to home (based on the trailers from The History Channel), to watch a Whale get chopped up. Because I spent 10 years of my life help keeping a certain companies 747 Fleet airworthy. And it would really break my heart to see one of my "babies" there being chopped up.
I know, I know....stupid feelings aren't they, but if you spend enough time around something and take a huge amount of pride in the work you do, well, I guess you might understand.
Respectfully,
Paul

I watched the program and thought they used the word "Boneyard" too many times. Some things they called boneyards was not. But other was was O.K.

One thing (very minor) on the show that was misleading was as they were doing a walk around of Buffalo Airways' C-46, they were talking about what a great aircraft the C-47 has been and continues to be to this date. I dont know if this is something they even noticed but I took note of it none-the-less.

Funny you mention that, I did the same thing. As I was watching it I blurted out "ooo C-46" then they talk how the C-47 is a great machine. Then I start to doubt myself to what I saw, and the '46 was back up.

[quote="Fairfax Ghost"]I also have much respect for the Red Bull team over in Salzberg. thay are the group that ended up with my old ride the B-25 Fairfax Ghost. she is now a work of art and our crew could never have asked for a better home for her. and soon thay will have the p-38.
I miss the Fairfax Ghost, it was the first B-25 I saw back when they had an airshow at Forbes Field. I still have my Fairfax T-shirt and the Fairfax Ghost book. Would love to see it again.
