Gang, the awesome B-29 Film "ABOVE AND BEYOND" will air tonite (Tuesday July 3rd) at Midnight (Eastern) on TCM. If You Love B-29's (and who doesn't!!) don't miss this one!! It's all about legendary Pilot Paul Tibbetts & His life during WW2 leading up to His famous Hiroshima mission... This is a great WW2 film with lots of (realistic) wise-guy reactions to stuff. Lots of B-29 flying in this one too!! Ha! Ha! Wait till You see JIM BACKUS as General Curtiss LeMay (I wish I was kidding, but I'm not) Backus played Thurston Howell the 3rd, on Gilligan's Island...

Anyway, Check Out "ABOVE AND BEYOND" tonite at Midnight Eastern, 11pm Central, 10pm Mountain & 9pm Pacific. Yes, I'm sure I have the times right this time!! .... Digger

Looking forward to it! Just saw High Flight earlier which I really enjoyed the footage of Provosts, Vampires and Hunters. I only barely remember seeing Above and Beyond about twelve years ago or more and I still remember it featuring some amazing B-29 scenes - will definitely have to record it this time around.

those are great clips! Tibbets seems like a very mellow guy, who did his duty and is a bit disgusted by people who question him on it. The second pilot is every southerners nightmare: A real redneck in front of a camera.

John & all, Be careful when recording this one, it's tricky...
It's 2 Hours & 2 Minutes Long. Be sure to set Your DVD recorder in the "LP" 3 Hour mode...

Also, If You really know Your TV sets & DVD players, You can record "ABOVE & BEYOND" while watching both the "Twilight Zone" Warbird Episodes on the Sci-Fi Channel. All shows are on at the same time of course!! ...

Ha! Ha! I still can't get over seeing "Thurston Howell the 3rd" as General Curtis Lemay... Digger

My wife and I had the great pleasure of touring Gen. Tibbets on visits throughout South Florida and the Florida West Coast from 1998-2002. Above and Beyond is a movie the General truly loves, he was an advisor to the movie and very happy that Robert Taylor played his part. My VHS copy is signed by the gen. Tibbets and Col Tom Ferebee. The first year of our tours Col. Ferebee was along with us. Both outstanding Americans and heroes in my book.

Now THAT description wasn't nearly enough :D Give us all the inside dope on them! That's certainly an experience you out to think of writing down, eh? Those two gentlemen helped change the world in almost every way we know it, eh? It would be a pleasure to meet either--sadly Col Ferebee looks to have popped smoke. Has Gen. Tibbets got a biography our?

This is an older version of Gen Tibbets book. There is least two editions since that one and they are hardcover.

The only site to purchase the curent edition and signed by Tibbets is

http://www.enolagay.org/

It is operated by his daughter.
