Warbird Information Exchange

I wanted to build a model of the late Bill Fornoff's Mustang N9149R and had a couple questions I'm hoping someone can help with... The only photo I've seen is a rear quartering shot and I can't tell if the accent stripe is black or the dark brown like on the Bearcats... Also does anyone have a photo that might show how the stripes are laid out on the wings...

It's been many years since I've seen it but f I remember correctly it was a dark brown metalflake. It was painted exactly the same as the Bearcat when Corkey was flying it. The 'Cats were both in the same scheme with a couple of minor detail differences.

The paint colors I have listed are for DuPont Lucite Acrylic Lacquers:
4035L - Cordovan Metallic (A dark Red-Brown)
4031L - Copper Metallic
4024L - White

Send me a PM and I'll send you a copy of the 'Cat paint scheme, the P-51 would have been the same.

I remember that mustang! Where is that airfield? That sugarcane in the background says south lousisana, maybe out at the airbase in Houma?

It was Flake Brown on the stripe I think--but it's been 25 years. It was definitely a flake tho.
