first warbird ride

Fri Jun 29, 2007 6:20 pm

Hello, this morning me and my dad flew down to Jasper,AL and I got a ride in the t-6 "Big Red". It was a blast :D !! We did two lazy barrel roles, two military rolls, a loop, and a cuban eight. We flew around and I got some stick time. Then we went back to the airport and my pilot proceeded to do a flyby and land. The airplane I rode in has some interesting history. It was flown by Jimmy Doolittle at one point in its military life. It also had a 30 cal in the rear cockpit and a 30 cal that fired through the propeller. Was this used for sbd training? I always forget how big these warbirds are till I actually stand next to one of them. It is also hard to imangine a 21 year old flew in something that big and with that much power.

Very cool! Nothing like your first T-6 ride with a few aerobatics thrown in. A memory you will never forget.
