Geneseo Questions?

I was wondering if anything happens on Fri at Geneseo, as I am planning the trip now. Is Friday afternoon arrival the norm or should I try to be there first thing that AM? What are the weather patterns there? I am planning 3 stops from Colo and would appreciate any info from those with this kind of local experience. My plane has had an oil change with the normal service and is waiting for for an air filter to finish up. I went up yesterday and washed it. I'll have to do that again as I get near the show. We have had great weather here lately, if pretty hot, but I'll always keep my fingers crossed when going that far cross country.

Friday is more or less your typical arrival day with most of the planes arriving between 11:00-4:00. This year may be slightly different in that they're having a biplane rally starting on the 7th all the way through to Friday. They list some events that may be going on throughout the week but I'm not to sure what the turnout will be. I know the Liberty Belle will be there for most of the week and so will Warbird Adventures. Either way, you can pretty much count on a relaxed, informal atmosphere.

As far as general weather info goes (at least from the Buffalo area), it's been real dry here this summer. We've barely had any rain and it only seems to be in the forecast for one or two days a week, even when it's forecast it seems to dissipate. Winds are almost always from the west or northwest, usually below 20mph. It's not uncommon for Geneseo and the surrounding valleys to have early morning fog. Dansville, NY, just south of Geneseo does have an AWOS. The conditions there are usually quite similar to those of Geneseo.

It's really been a great flying season around here the last couple of months.

Can’t wait to see you Bill. I’m surprised my little inquiry a few months ago will see you at Geneseo. Most aircraft do arrive between 11 and 4ish on Friday but I know a lot of aircraft are coming in Wednesday and Thursday as they have a week-long biplane rally planned. Word of caution, the runway and taxiway off the runway is smooth but watch the parking areas. They can be a little rough sometimes, keep the tail down. I know last year most of the fighters had a closer spot to the runway and was much easier on the taxing.

I am not too sure that you should worry about washing your aircraft again before the show. I have had to wash the Corsair after the show, and it appears as if that area has more than their fair share of bugs. I am not sure how they have any bugs left after we killed that many on the front of the Corsair, but it was not pretty

Air Show Transient Aircraft

The FAA waiver will be in effect from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm each day of the show. No Transient aircraft will be allowed to land or takeoff during the waiver period.

Parking for Transient aircraft is at the south-west end of the field. See the Air Show repesentative in that area to pay your admission fee.

Upon landing, your aircraft will be lead by a Follow Me truck to the transient aircraft parking area. Because of special arrangements with the Rochester Customs Office, aircraft arriving from Canada may fly directly to Geneseo without having to land in Buffalo or Rochester. Upon your arrival at Geneseo, the Customs officer on the field will be notified of your arrival. You must stay at your aircraft and have no contact with anyone on the field until after you are cleared by Customs.

The waiver time for Saturday and Sunday is 10:00 am - 4:30 pm. You must arrive or depart either before 9:45 am or after 4:30 pm.

All aircraft must be tied down. You must supply your own tie-downs; we do not!

Fuel is not available on the field, so you'll have to plan accordingly.

The fee is $15 per person per day. This includes admission to the Air Show.
